HOLDEURUSD
Entry 1.153385 short, live 1.1539, -13.25 USD, -0.34R, about one hour old. All five named invalidations checked; none fired. (1) No hourly close above 1.15525 — the 08:00Z hour closed 1.153935 with a 1.154201 high, still below the 1h SMA20 1.15464, the 1h SMA50 1.15504 and the 1d SMA50 1.15503. (2) No daily close above 1.15503. (3) The driver has strengthened, not reversed: WTI is 84.37, up from 83.88 at entry and +6.66% on 24h with 1h RSI 84.5, and the 10Y is 4.699, +3.9bp, still at the top of last week's range. (4) It is still dollar-side and the euro is still the weak leg — EUR -0.22% on 24h against GBP +0.001% and USDJPY +0.44% at 159.36; the condition that would void this (USDJPY negative, cable through 1.3530 while EUR is merely flat) is not present, cable is 1.3504. (5) Time stop is 2026-08-12 European close, not yet due. Stated plainly: the last hour went against me. The 08:00Z bar closed off its 1.153536 low and 1h RSI has lifted 33.1 to 39.74, so the extended hourly leg I sold into is unwinding exactly as I said was the base case at entry. That is a retest, not a failure — price has not reclaimed a single one of the three averages it lost, and the structure of lower hourly highs from 1.15527 is intact. Stop stays 1.15525: it is 13.5 pips, 2.18x the 1h ATR of 0.00062, and sits above the overnight high by design so the retest cannot take me out. Tightening under 1.1542 would put the stop inside one ATR and donate the trade to ordinary London noise. Remaining risk is 39.17 USD, 0.039% of capital, against roughly 63 USD to the 1.15050 target above the previous-week low. Commitment for the record: if the 09:00Z or 10:00Z hour closes above 1.15503 (1d SMA50) I flatten rather than wait for the stop.
OPENEURUSD
Portfolio is flat, so this is a fresh underwrite. Only four instruments pass the gate: CAC, DAX, EURUSD, GBPUSD. I take EURUSD short and decline the other three. Why EURUSD short: the dollar is bid across every readable channel. WTI +7.44% on 24h at 83.88 (1h RSI 83.03), US 10Y 4.699 (+3.9bp, top of the previous week's 4.603/4.702 range), USDJPY +0.55% at 159.36 with daily RSI 72.35 and 7d +1.09%, gold 1.6% off its 4493 overnight high. An oil-led rise in yields with a firm dollar is the mix that pressures EUR. On its own chart EURUSD has broken below the 1h SMA20 (1.15470), the 1h SMA50 (1.15501) and the 1d SMA50 (1.15503), with daily RSI 43.62 and lower hourly highs from 1.15527 into 1.15354; the 07:00Z hour closed on its low. Only the 1d SMA200 at 1.15268 stands between spot and the 1.15035 previous-week low. Why not the others: CAC and DAX are the same factor (EUR equity risk) and both carry daily RSI near 71 into a rising-yield, rising-oil tape, which argues for caution rather than for shorting a trend far above every reference average. More decisively, European cash closes at 15:32Z and any index stop stops binding there until 07:00Z tomorrow; that unstopped overnight window cost me -0.13R on DAX yesterday and is the mistake I said I would stop repeating. FX runs to Friday 21:02Z, so this stop binds continuously through the 45-event calendar. GBPUSD is the same dollar trade through a weaker lens: cable is flat on 24h (+0.004%) versus EUR at -0.25%, so sterling is the resilient leg and the euro is the one breaking; I also do not want to re-enter the pair I just closed at a loss absent a fresh signal. Sizing is capped by the 25% notional rule (24,224 USD on 21,000 units), leaving 36.75 USD at risk, 0.037% of capital - deliberately small because 1h RSI 33.1 means I am selling into an extended hourly leg. Single position, no correlated second leg.
CLOSEGBPUSD
This is the 22:00Z slot and the commitment I put on the record at 20:05Z and restated at 21:05Z fires: flatten if 1.3520 is not reclaimed by the 22:00Z slot rather than carry a dead break into the 23:00Z macro window. It was not reclaimed - the 19:00Z, 20:00Z and 21:00Z hours printed highs of 1.35095, 1.35102 and 1.35117, none within 8 pips of the line, spot 1.3509. I close on that commitment rather than let it lapse into a fourth restatement. The secondary commitment did not fire: the 21:00Z hour closed 1.350913, above 1.35037. None of the four original invalidations fired either - no hourly close below 1.3495; no daily close below the 1d SMA50 1.34685; still sterling-side not dollar-side (EURUSD -0.14%, USDJPY +0.94%, 10Y 4.699 +3.9bp, GBP +0.12% against a bid dollar); 1.3505 held. Structure is intact: above the 1.35060 previous-week high, the 1.35037 previous-day high, 1h SMA20 1.35025, 1h SMA50 1.34820, 1d SMA50 1.34685, 1d SMA200 1.34287. I close anyway, because intact structure is not a live thesis. I bought a fresh range breakout expecting continuation; six hours later it has produced zero follow-through. The last three hourly bars ranged 3.1, 3.6 and 6.0 pips against a 1h ATR of 8.73 - a flat line parked on the shelf I bought - and 1h RSI has decayed from 73.4 at entry to 57.9. The impulse is gone; what remains is 24,316 USD of notional carried on hope into thin Asian liquidity with 48 events through 14 Aug. A thin-book gap through 1.3495 costs more than the 23 USD of nominal remaining risk implies, because the stop is a level, not a fill. Cost of closing is small and honest: -35.47 USD, -0.61R, plus ~2.4 USD slippage, against ~138 USD to target on a premise that stopped producing. I have argued the arithmetic of holding for four straight slots; it is unchanged but the tape has voted, and repeating it while the thesis dies is the failure mode I closed DAX to avoid today.
HOLDGBPUSD
Entry 1.352735, live 1.3508, -37.27 USD, -0.64R, five hours old. Two commitments were on the record last slot. First: flatten if the 20:00Z or 21:00Z hour closes below 1.35037. The 20:00Z hour closed 1.350804 on a 1.350658 low, above the line, so it does not fire and I do not close. Second: flatten if 1.3520 is not reclaimed by the 22:00Z slot. That is next slot, and I restate it here rather than let it quietly lapse. All four original invalidations checked, none fired: (1) no hourly close below 1.3495; (2) no daily close below 1.3468 (1d SMA50 1.34685, spot 40 pips above); (3) still sterling-side, not dollar-side — EURUSD -0.18%, USDJPY +0.94%, 10Y 4.699 +3.9bp, so the dollar is bid everywhere while GBP is +0.12% against it, the condition I underwrote rather than the one that voids it; (4) 1.3505 reclaimed and held. What the last hour added, plainly: nothing again. The 20:00Z hour ranged 3.6 pips against a 1h ATR of 8.93, a second dead hour parked on the 1.35060 previous-week-high shelf I bought the break of. Structure is intact (above 1h SMA20 1.35015, 1h SMA50 1.34809, 1d SMA50 1.34685, 1d SMA200 1.34287) but five hours have produced zero follow-through and 1h RSI 57.2 versus 73.4 at entry says the impulse is spent. This survives on structure and arithmetic, not conviction. The arithmetic: 13 pips to the 1.3495 stop is ~23 USD of remaining risk, 0.023% of capital, against ~138 USD to the 1.35850 target; closing here realises the whole drawdown plus ~5 USD of cost to retire almost nothing. Stop unchanged at 1.3495 — 1.46x the 1h ATR and deliberately below the shelf; anything above 1.3500 sits inside 0.9 ATR and donates the trade to one thin Asian print. Binding commitments: if the 21:00Z or 22:00Z hour closes below 1.35037 I flatten rather than wait for the stop; and if 1.3520 is not reclaimed by the 22:00Z slot I flatten there rather than carry a dead break into the 23:00Z macro window. Realistically the penultimate slot for this trade.
HOLDGBPUSD
Entry 1.352735, live 1.3508, -37.27 USD, -0.64R, four hours old. I made a specific commitment on the record last slot: flatten if the 19:00Z or 20:00Z hour closes below 1.35037. The 19:00Z hour closed 1.350804 on a 1.350640 low — above the line — so the commitment does not fire and I do not close. All four named invalidations checked, none fired: (1) no hourly close below 1.3495; (2) no daily close below 1.3468 (1d SMA50 1.34685, spot 40 pips above); (3) still sterling-side, not dollar-side — EURUSD -0.19%, USDJPY +1.00%, 10Y 4.699 +3.9bp, so the dollar is bid across the board while GBP is +0.12% against it, which is precisely the condition I underwrote rather than the one that voids it; (4) 1.3505 reclaimed and held. What the last hour actually added, stated plainly: nothing. The 19:00Z hour ranged 3.1 pips (1.350950/1.350640) against a 1h ATR of 9.34 — the tightest hour of the session, a flat line sitting on the 1.35060 previous-week-high shelf I bought the break of. That is neither the follow-through I wanted nor the failure that closes me; it is a dead tape at the NY close. 1h RSI 57.2 versus 73.4 at entry confirms the impulse is spent and the trade now survives on structure alone. Arithmetic keeps me in, not conviction: 13 pips to the 1.3495 stop is ~23.5 USD of remaining risk on 18,000 units, 0.024% of capital, against ~138 USD to the 1.35850 target. Paying round-trip spread here realises the whole drawdown to retire almost nothing. Stop unchanged at 1.3495 — 1.39x the 1h ATR away and deliberately below the shelf; anything above 1.3500 sits inside 0.8 ATR and donates the trade to a thin-liquidity print. Forward commitments, restated: if the 20:00Z or 21:00Z hour closes below 1.35037 I flatten rather than wait for the stop; and if price has not reclaimed 1.3520 by the 22:00Z slot I flatten into thinning liquidity rather than carry a dead break into the 23:00Z macro window.
HOLDGBPUSD
Entry 1.352735, live 1.3508, -37.27 USD, -0.64R, four hours old. Last slot I committed on the record: flatten if the 18:00Z or 19:00Z hour closes below 1.35037. The 18:00Z hour closed 1.35104 on a 1.35064 low — above the line — so that commitment does not fire and I do not close. All four named invalidations checked, none fired: (1) no hourly close below 1.3495; (2) no daily close below 1.3468 (1d SMA50 1.34681, spot 40 pips above); (3) still sterling-side rather than dollar-side — EURUSD -0.19%, USDJPY +0.95%, 10Y 4.696 +4bp, so the dollar is bid across the board and GBP is +0.12% against it, which is the condition I underwrote, not the one that voids it; (4) 1.3505 was reclaimed and held, price 1.3508. What the last hour actually added, said plainly: stabilisation, not recovery. The run of three lower hourly closes ended (1.35259, 1.35150, 1.35060, now 1.35104) on a 5.7-pip range against a 1h ATR of 9.75, with the hourly low 1.35064 sitting exactly on the 1.35060 previous-week high I bought the break of. That is the shelf holding a retest — my stated base case at entry — arriving four hours late. It remains a breakout that has produced no follow-through, and 1h RSI 58.95 versus 73.4 at entry says the impulse is spent. Arithmetic keeps me in, not conviction: 13 pips to the 1.3495 stop is ~24 USD of remaining risk on 18,000 units, 0.058% of capital, against ~132 USD to the 1.35850 target. Paying round-trip spread now realises the whole drawdown to retire almost nothing. Stop unchanged at 1.3495 — 1.33x the 1h ATR away and deliberately below the shelf; anything above 1.3500 sits inside 0.8 ATR and hands the trade to noise. Forward commitments: if the 19:00Z or 20:00Z hour closes below 1.35037 I flatten rather than wait for the stop; and if price has not reclaimed 1.3520 by the 22:00Z slot I flatten into thinning liquidity rather than carry a dead break into the 23:00Z macro window.
HOLDGBPUSD
Entry 1.352735, live 1.3506, -40.87 USD, -0.7R, three hours old. Every named invalidation checked; none fired. (1) No hourly close below 1.3495 — the 17:00Z hour closed 1.350603. (2) No daily close below 1.3468. (3) Still sterling-side, not dollar-side: EURUSD -0.18%, USDJPY +0.89%, 10Y +4bp — the dollar is bid across the board and GBP is +0.10% against it, the condition I underwrote rather than the one that voids it. (4) The 15:00Z low 1.35173 broke, but the trigger required failure to reclaim 1.3505 within two slots and price sits 1.35060, above it. Stated plainly: this is the worst read yet. Three consecutive lower hourly closes (1.35259, 1.35150, 1.35060), the 17:00Z hour closing on its own low, session gain cut from +0.25% at entry to +0.10%, 1h RSI 73.4 to 56.6, and price now sits exactly on the 1.35060 previous-week high I bought the break of. The breakout has round-tripped and produced no follow-through in three hours. What holds me is arithmetic, not hope. The stop at 1.3495 is 11 pips away — 19.80 USD of further loss on 18,000 units — against 142 USD to the 1.35850 target. Closing here realizes the full -40.87 plus round-trip spread to avoid 20 USD of remaining risk, which is paying to retire almost nothing. The stop was placed below the breakout shelf precisely so it could be the exit; with structure still intact — above the 1.35037 previous-day high, 1h SMA20 1.34988, 1h SMA50 1.34779, 1d SMA50 1.34681, 1d SMA200 1.34277 — I let it do its job rather than front-run it by 11 pips. Not tightening: anything above 1.3500 sits inside 0.6 ATR and donates the trade to noise. FX stays open to Friday, so this stop binds continuously through the 19:00Z macro window. If the 18:00Z or 19:00Z hour closes below 1.35037 I flatten rather than wait for the stop.
HOLDGBPUSD
Entry 1.352735, live 1.3515, -24.67 USD, -0.42R, one hour old. Every named invalidation checked; none fired. (1) No hourly close below 1.3495 — the 16:00Z hour closed 1.35150, still above the 1.35060 previous-week high, the 1.35037 previous-day high, the 1h SMA20 1.34984, 1h SMA50 1.34774, 1d SMA50 1.34681 and 1d SMA200 1.34277. The breakout shelf has not been given back. (2) No daily close below 1.3468. (3) The move is still sterling-side, not dollar-side: EURUSD is -0.14% at 1.1551 with 1h RSI 47.4, USDJPY +0.82% — the dollar is bid and GBP is up against it, which is the condition I underwrote, not the one that voids it. (4) The 15:00Z low 1.35173 did break — the 16:00Z hour printed 1.35146 — but the trigger requires failure to reclaim 1.3505 within two slots, and price at 1.3515 is 10 pips above that line. Stated plainly rather than buried: this is worse than an hour ago. 1h RSI has cooled 73.4 to 63.4, sterling's session gain has halved from +0.25% to +0.17%, the stop buffer has gone from 3.2 ATR to 1.98 ATR, and the first hour produced a fade, not follow-through. What it is not is a failed breakout — a 12-pip pullback against a 1h ATR of 0.00101 is the retest of 1.3505 I named as the base case at entry, and price is holding above the shelf while it happens. Not touching the stop: 1.3495 sits below the breakout shelf by design; tightening under 1.35146 would put it 0.04 ATR from spot and hand the trade to any ordinary tick. Not paying round-trip spread to retire a 58.23 USD bounded risk, 0.058% of capital, on a one-hour-old position whose structure is intact. FX stays open to Friday 21:02Z, so unlike an index line this stop binds continuously through the 19:00Z macro window. If 1.3505 fails on an hourly close I flatten rather than defend.
OPENGBPUSD
Opening from flat; no positions were carried into this slot, so this is a fresh underwrite rather than an adjustment. Four instruments satisfy tradable_in_simulation, quality.status=fresh and session.is_open: SPX, NDX, EURUSD and GBPUSD. CAC and DAX are shut. I am taking GBPUSD and declining the other three. EURUSD is declined on its own merits — 1.1555 is flat against a 1h SMA20 of 1.15582 with 1h RSI 51.6 and a 24h change of -0.05%, which is no signal at all. SPX and NDX are declined on the clock, not the chart: both are in intact uptrends, but US cash closes at 20:02Z and the macro window opens at 19:00Z with 49 events through 14 Aug, so any index line taken now is stopped for four hours and unstopped for seventeen. That is the precise asymmetry that cost me -0.18R on SPX into the 07 Aug weekend and -0.13R on DAX before today's European close, and repeating it a third time on a tape where NDX is already diverging negative from SPX would be a decision I could not defend. GBPUSD carries the same risk-on directional lean but in a market that stays open until Friday, so the 1.3495 stop binds continuously instead of decoratively. Size is set at the 25% notional cap (24,347 USD) rather than at my risk budget, which leaves only 55.80 USD, 0.056% of capital, at risk — intentionally small, because I am buying two hours after a 30-pip vertical push with 1h RSI at 73.4 and the honest base case is a retest of 1.3505 before any extension. Single position, no correlated second leg.
CLOSE^DAX
Executing the commitment made on the record at 13:05Z: "if 26445 is not reclaimed by the 15:00Z slot, I flatten before the 15:32Z close rather than carry unstopped gap risk on a premise that has stopped producing." This is the 15:00Z slot. 26445 was not reclaimed — the two hours since printed highs of 26384.37 and 26372.75, nowhere near it. No named invalidation fired: no hourly close below 26150 (13:00Z closed 26311.50, 14:00Z 26348.04), no daily close below 26126, VIX 15.18 not above 18, 10Y 4.686 not through 4.75. I am not closing on a trigger, I am closing because the reason to hold has gone. The premise was orderly consolidation under Friday's high with lows stepping up. That is now inverted: four consecutive lower hourly highs, the 13:00Z hour closing 26311.50 through the morning low 26314.98 on a 26302.19 print, spot 26339.21 pinned to the 1h SMA20 26333.13 and only 20 points above Friday's 26319.45 close, 1h RSI 55.1 from 60.34 at entry and 63.64 at the peak. Seven hours in, the trade is -24.22 USD, -0.13R, has round-tripped from +0.28R, and CAC never once confirmed — still below its own 1h SMA20 and negative on 24h. The decisive factor is the clock, not the tape. Cash closes at 15:32Z; the 26150 stop stops binding there and does not resume until 07:00Z tomorrow. That is 23,705 USD of notional held unstopped across a 49-event macro calendar that opens at 19:00Z, on a thesis that has stopped producing. A 1.5% adverse reopen costs ~0.36% of capital versus the 0.19% bounded risk I actually underwrote — the wrong side of that asymmetry to sit on for a premise I no longer believe. Paying ~30 USD of round-trip cost to retire it is a fair price. Flat into the US afternoon, re-underwriting next slot on fresh data.

Entry 26363.486, live 26362.67, -3.11 USD, -0.02R, five hours old. Every named invalidation checked; none fired. (1) No hourly close below 26150 - the 12:00Z hour closed 26365.25 on a 26358.70 low, above 1h SMA20 26316.23, 1h SMA50 26217.60, 1d SMA50 25131.69 and 1d SMA200 24449.75. (2) No daily close below 26126, the 05 Aug close and base of the leg, still 237 points below spot. (3) VIX 15.42, not above 18, below its 50d 17.38 and 200d 18.58. (4) The 10Y has not taken out 4.75 - 4.668, from a 236k-second-stale print that confirms nothing live. Stated plainly, not buried: the stall flagged last slot has become a slow roll. Three consecutive lower hourly highs (26441.91, 26416.13, 26406.65), the 12:00Z low 26358.70 breaking the 11:00Z low 26386.89, 1h RSI 57.8 from 63.64, and the position has round-tripped from +0.28R to flat after two rejections at Friday's 26445.18. CAC 8722.35 still refuses to confirm, under its 1h SMA20, and the macro mix has firmed the dollar (USDJPY +0.76%, 1h RSI 71.1; EURUSD -0.14%) with WTI +1.73%. That is the opposite backdrop to the one I opened into. What it is not, yet, is a break: price holds above every reference average and above Friday's 26319 close, and a 44-point fade against a 66.46 1h ATR is noise, not distribution. Closing at breakeven on a pause inside intact structure pays round-trip spread to retire a bounded 192.14 USD risk 437 points from target. Stop stays 26150 - 213 points, 3.2 ATR, below Friday's low 26223.64 and the 1h SMA50. Tightening to anywhere between the session low 26314.98 and Friday's low donates the trade to an ordinary sweep at the 13:32Z US open. Commitment for the record: if 26445 is not reclaimed by the 15:00Z slot, I flatten before the 15:32Z close rather than carry unstopped gap risk on a premise that has stopped producing.
HOLD^DAX
Entry 26363.486, live 26401.18, +31.55 USD, +0.16R, four hours old. Every named invalidation checked; none fired. (1) No hourly close below 26150 — the 11:00Z hour closed 26410.52 on a 26386.89 low, above 1h SMA20 26308.26, 1h SMA50 26209.83, 1d SMA50 25131.69, 1d SMA200 24449.75. (2) No daily close below 26126, the 05 Aug close and base of the leg, 275 points below spot. (3) VIX 15.45, not above 18, below its 50d 17.38 and 200d 18.58. (4) The 10Y has not taken out 4.75 — 4.66, but that is a 232k-second-stale print confirming nothing live. What changed, stated not buried: the advance stopped advancing. The 11:00Z hour was the session's first inside/lower hour — 29-point range against a 1h ATR of 67.89, low 26386.89 breaking the ladder of rising lows (26314.98, 26328.84, 26379.09, 26389.60), 1h RSI 63.64 versus 64.83 — and price has now failed twice at Friday's 26445.18 high. The macro mix also turned less friendly: WTI +1.45% and USDJPY +0.69% with EURUSD -0.11% is a firmer dollar plus an oil impulse, the opposite of what I opened into. CAC 8722.37 still is not confirming, marginally under its 1h SMA20 8724.67, so this stays Germany alone — which keeps forbidding a CAC leg (same factor, weaker structure) but fires no trigger. A stall at resistance in a position onside, above every reference average, premise intact, is not worth round-trip cost to retire a bounded 192.14 USD risk 399 points from the 26800 target. Stop unchanged: 26150 is 251 points away, 3.70x the 1h ATR, below Friday's low 26223.64 and the 1h SMA50. Trailing under 26386.89 would sit 0.21 ATR from spot and donate the trade to a wick at the 13:32Z US open, where SPX/NDX arrive from 228k-second-stale prints. Gap risk accepted: the stop stops binding after 15:32Z, which is why this is 0.19% of capital, and the 13:00Z and 14:00Z slots remain to flatten if the stall becomes a rollover.
